I teach MS Office and every semester at least one student in each section insists on using Open Office to do their out of class work. I do not recommend it for this very reason. Open Office can get quirky and not cooperate. Usually at the most inopportune times.

To help with your problem though, I assume you are using Open Office because you don't have Word on your computer. So create an account in Google and try to upload your file to Google Docs (docs.google.com) After you are finished formatting it, download it as a regular Word file. If you can't upload it, copy and paste the text into a Google Docs file and download it as a Word file from there. Dee
