open office has an option to save it as word document.

just open the file you want to save as word and go to File > Save As

at the drop down near the bottom of the save as screen select Microsoft word format harryperales

    Hey, here is the step
1, first open the open office document file with the Open document software
2,Click File through the Menu, chose “Save as” , then you can find save as type, it’s your answer, just chose MS word format! Chris

Open the document in openoffice, click “file” at the top left, then “save as..” in the list that springs up. A box then opens showing you where you can save the document, choose a name and location and (this is the clever bit) there is a box next to the words “save as type:” - click on that and choose the option that is “Microsoft Word 6.0.”

Openoffice have created a little animation to help you, they are so helpful (see the “source” box). Sam

Open Office <> Microsoft : Global settings:
It can be done on a document-by-document basis from the ‘Save as…’ drop menu, or you can have a global permanent setting for all the different applications within Oo.
For that: Oo> Tools> Options> Load/Save>Microsoft: here check whether you want Oo to handle incoming Microsoft ’stuff’ (L) and/or to have your ’stuff’ saved so that it can be exported to a Microsoft application (S). Dunbar Pappy
