How much different is Microsoft Office 2010 going to be from MS Office 2007?

Tammy asked:

Just got Windows 7 OS and wondering if I should keep my current MS Office 2007 or go for the MS Office 2010.

I just use basic to medium type functions in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Hi!

If you just do the basics, I would recommend using MS Office 2007. There are not that many differences in 2010 that will make a difference for the basic user. Unless you are a writer, or accountant, the older version should be just fine for you.

Also, buying the old one may be cheaper!

If you are curious, you can even download the 2010 ‘beta’ version here:

This is the starter edition, but, it should work just fine for a basic user. It will also be free until they release the 2010 version at which time you will need to buy the final copy, or your current copy would stop working… Amy W

    It would depend on you.
Of what I read, there’s not much that difference. But you’ll get used to it afterwards.
Should you wish to send your writings and other things to a friend. Be sure to save as to previous ones such as word 97 - 2003 and word 2007.
MS office should be released sometime this year or next year, depending on how things go. But I think the new one would be limited to one and two computers.
If you need the applications right now, I would say ms office 2007. dumbshmoe
