Basically, if the plug fits.. it's good.
A and B have to do with where the little plastic tongue is on the inside of the computer end of things... Hard to find an strictly A type around anymore. The cable you want will have a small rectangle on one side and a square with the top corners beveled on the other.

DO NOT spend more than maybe $10 -12 US on the cable. You don;t need or want a $35 gold tipped schmancy extra insulted hyper quantum star trek usb cable. They have been shown time and again to be electrically identical to the one you get for $6.</description>
