I was scammed into buying office supplies - help?
I was scammed into buying office supplies over the phone. The lady presented herself as someone who knows my supervisor. She knew a lot of info and sounded legit. She said that she had spoken with my supervisor after I had left for the day, and he said to call me next week to go over what I needed, because I do the ordering. I believed her, and said “okay” to the supplies. My manager was out the week she called, and when he came back, he said he never authorized anything and didn’t know the lady. The supplies are on there way, and I want to know if I can refuse them when they arrive, since they weren’t actually authorized by my supervisor?? Can they get me in trouble if I refuse to pay the bill? I can’t believe I fell for this, I have never fallen for one of this calls before, and I get a lot. I feel so stupid!!!

I’m fairly sure that if they don’t get a signature binding you to it (or a CC number), you’ll be alright. Just slap a big ole “return to sender” on it all.

Dont feel stupid. They are the stupid ones that have to resort to lying to sell their products. You never signed anything so just return the product when it arrives. Dont open it or just refuse the deliery. They will call you back and harrass you but dont let them bully you.
