What is the actual cost of producing office supplies?

We are trying to show our co-workers how to go ‘green’ in the office. If we could give them some good examples of why recycling/re-using makes sense it would be helpful. Like for example, what is the real cost of producing a paper clip? Or a manila folder? From raw material to processing to packaging to transport to when it ends up in a trash can?

You could go on Google and search, and maybe find someone who works at an office supply store.

Well, I think you are trying to show the environmental costs which don’t necessarily coincide with the dollar costs. Dollar costs for these items is low but the environmental cost in terms of resources may be higher because of negative externalities associated with production from source materials versus recycled materials.
