MS will never bundle Office together for free. Office 2007 will work on Windows 7.

But if you are looking for something free and just as good, you should try SSuite Office for a free office suite.

Their software also don't need to run on Java or .NET, like the latest MS office and open source office suites, so it makes their software very small and efficient. Jason

Office 2007 is the most recent version, however Microsoft is currently testing the Beta of Office 2010, which will be available this June. You can grab a free download of the Beta from Microsoft here:

You can download genuine, not pirated Microsoft Office 2010 beta for free (the whole suite of software) which will run until October 2010. Since 2010 is the latest version and built for Windows 7 that's what I would suggest:

You can use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote for free on line at Skydrive. There's nothing to install. You use the Skydrive version of Microsoft Office from any computer - Mac, PC, or even LINUX - in your FireFox, Safari or IE web browser. Your Office files are accessible from any computer with an internet connection, and you can print & save them locally, too. This link gives instructions on how to get SkyDrive. jimgmacmvp

All of them, no really, I tried all the way back to Office 97. It worked.
But yes, 2007 is the newest, and it works fine on Windows 7. imcuneo
