where can i get a disk to update my computer to Windows XP?
I have Windows 2000, yes I know OLD, and have gone to the local office supply store to get a disk to update to XP. I have been told that with Vista now on all new computers, Microsoft is no longer making XP updates. I have my computer set to automatically update with Microsoft but have not gotten the XP update.

you should look around more to find xp they still sell it . as for the automatic update it will not update your 2000 to xp it just updates your 2000 . there are site were you can d/l xp free but over all there could be problems and knowledge on what your doing . if all else fails take it to a shop and have them install xp for you ..

XP is not and update. Nor is Vista, etc. All you can do is pony up the money for a retail copy of the newer OS.

The XP is not an update it’s a different O/S. As you have been told they are no longer selling XP, it is now only available pre installed on low spec laptops and net books. Even Windows Vista is now starting to look old with forecast of Windows 7 arriving around Christmas. I would check to see if your computer is powerful enough and jump straight to Windows 7. It looks like the best version ever.

Probably on Ebay or on-line stores.
Many software authors no longer write software for Windows 2000, so you have a good reason to upgrade. But, XP has been around a while, and soon they might stop supporting Windows XP. You might want to look into upgrading to Vista. (Or even waiting for Windows 7.)
